UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC)

UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) was founded in 1960. It is a structure of United Nations who promotes international cooperation and coordinates programs in marine research, services, observation systems, hazard mitigation, and capacity development in order to understand and effectively manage the resources of the ocean and coastal areas.

UNITWIN/ UNESCO Chairs Network

The University Twinning and Networking (UNITWIN) Chairs is a UNESCO Programme launched in 1992 to enhance higher education capacities through knowledge sharing. By May 23, 2013, the programme totals 766 UNESCO Chairs. UNITWIN Network promotes international inter-university cooperation, knowledge sharing and collaborative work. These networks serve as bridge builders between academia, civil society, local communities, research and policy-making.

The International Hydrological Program (IHP)

The International Hydrological Program (IHP) is the only intergovernmental program of the United Nations system devoted   in water research domain,  water resources management, education and capacity building.

Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB) of the UNESCO

The Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme is an Intergovernmental Scientific Programme aiming to set a scientific basis for the improvement of the relationships between people and their environment globally.
