The International Hydrological Program (IHP)

The International Hydrological Program (IHP) is the only intergovernmental program of the United Nations system devoted   in water research domain,  water resources management, education and capacity building. 

 

During the seventh phase, the (IHP-VII) will continue to promote and lead international hydrological research, to facilitate education and capacity development and reinforce governance in the matter of water resources management.

2013 has been proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations as the International Year of cooperation in the field of water with for objective the sensitization on cooperation development and the challenges of managing the water and contribution to sustainable development of water resources.

In the framework of this International Year, a high level strategic meeting was organized by The International Hydrological Program (IHP) of the UNESCO from 11 to 13 September 2013, in Nairobi, Kenya, on water security and cooperation.

UNESCO has invited Algeria to contribute in this event. Mr Rachid Taibi, the Executive Director of the National Agency ofWater Resources (ANRH) has participated in this meeting and contributed at reinforcing the cooperation of Algeria in this field.
